Patricia Cohen, President

Patricia shared Richard Cohen's vision for Burnside Village and is largely responsible for the aesthetic and tranquil feel of the Village.

Bruce Carter, Chairperson / Non-Executive Director

Bruce has been a member of the Cohen Group Board of Directors since May 2008, the first external Chairman appointment in the company's history.

He has spent more than 30 years in Corporate Recovery and Insolvency. In 1992, he was one of the founding partners of Ferrier Hodgson's Adelaide practice and retired in 2012. He was formerly a partner of Ernst & Young.

Bruce is a director/chair of numerous companies including SkyCity Entertainment Group Ltd, Australian Submarine Corporation Pty Ltd, Bank of Queensland and Genesee & Wyoming Australia Pty Ltd. He is a former chair of the South Australian Economic Development Board and past member of the South Australian Executive Committee of Cabinet.

Don Crouch, Non-Executive Director

Don Crouch was appointed as a member to the Board of the Cohen Group of Companies in May 2010, bringing with him a tremendous depth of knowledge.

Don’s extensive experience within the property industry includes 17 years at Knight Frank, 7 years of which he was a national Board member of Knight Frank Australia and Managing Director of South Australia. Don has also been a consultant to the South Australian Land Management Corporation (now Renewal SA) and various other local businesses. Former Board appointments include the Real Estate Institute of South Australia and the National Heart Foundation (SA Division).

Furthermore, Don had a long and close relationship with the late Richard Cohen OAM and understands the business and Richard’s vision for the company.

Peter Cohen, Director

Peter Cohen has over three decades experience in property, retailing and technology. Within this period, he has spent two decades working with Burnside Village and our other portfolio of properties. His development skills include master planning, innovative design, design development, leasing, relocations, tenancy coordination, property management, project management, feasibility analysis, construction management, quality control and risk management. His experience also includes developments in residential, industrial, office, showroom and mixed use projects.

In 2012, Peter founded a new company called Pure Foods - a food manufacturing business specialising in organic, gluten-free and all natural snack foods. Based in Melbourne, the Pure brand has had immediate success across Australia and is selling into the best retailing groups such as Coles, Woolworths, IGA’s and convenience stores.

In 2009, Peter was retained as the Development Manager for the most recent extension (Stage 3 and 4) at Burnside Village. This $100m development and extension literally changed the face of the shopping centre with significant tenancy mix additions predominantly in fashion including the addition of Zara with many other national retail fashion giants. The redevelopment generated a significant uplift in sales and customer traffic and solidified Burnside Village as the premier fashion destination in Adelaide.

In 2000, Peter founded the Australian company Beonic – an innovative technology services company for retailers and shopping centres to track, monitor and provide valuable statistics about the movements and whereabouts of customers as they walk around and vehicle guidance system to help customers find empty carparks. It is now an international company with offices thorough Asia. From a business perspective, these system gather valuable data such as visitor traffic numbers, trends, conversion rates, car park turnover, duration of stay and other factual information required for marketing purposes.

Peter’s understanding of the importance of integrated retail design, technology, consumer behaviour, construction and operations has contributed enormously to current expansion and success of our award winning Burnside Village Shopping Centre in Adelaide. His broad experience in retailing ensures that our projects are innovative, built on time, on budget and with a high level of quality.

Paul Cohen, Director

Paul has been an Industrial Design Consultant for 20 years and is the CEO of Cube Design China Limited. Paul has won Australian and International design awards including the prestigious Red Dot Award & Australian Design Award.

In Sydney, he is the Co-Owner and Director of Cube Industrial Design, where the clients include Breville, Blueye Eyewear, Johnson and Johnson, Hydro Surfing products, Greentech products, Vodafone, Bang and Olufsen, Tupperware and Phillips.

Paul was also the Managing Director of Think Product Design until 2007, as well as Senior Designer at Design Recourse International, where his projects included working with clients such as AGL, Eveready, Black and Decker, Netcomm, IBM Australia and Sun Moon Star.

Andrew Cohen, Director

Andrew Cohen was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Cohen Group of Companies in March 2000 until his retirement in September 2017. During his position as CEO Andrew worked at preparing the group for the transitional into a 3-division company. The creation of Burnside Village Retail Division, Commercial & Industrial Division and Finance & Accounting Division, which were completed in 2007. This coincided with a 3 year Harvard Business School OPM Executive Education program, which he graduated from in March 2010 and remains a Harvard Alumni.

Andrew is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has a diploma in Hospitality Management and has served on the Property Council’s (division council) for over 4 years. In late 2009 after Richard Cohen’s passing, the Board comprised of a new independent Chairman, and new Non-Executive Director and is now overseeing the simplification of the company’s foundation constitution and trust amendments.

Andrew sits on the Risk & Audit Committee, the Capital Works Committee and the Burnside Village Foundation Board. Importantly, his role is also to continue the legacy, hallmarks and values that Richard & Patricia Cohen built back in 1972.
